2.Dumpster Diving. Thieves do this “dumpster diving” to get pertinent information about you. He may dive in your trash bins to look for bills and other important documents with your personal information. To protect yourself, shred bills and other documents before you throw them in your trash cans or bins.
3.Phishing. This occurs when you click on a pop-up window while surfing the net and entering personal information. You can simply ignore these spams and scams in the net to prevent identity theft.
4.Change of Address. Identity theft can happen when your billing address for bills is changed. The thief may change where your bills are addressed. With this, you will not know the fraudulent actions of the thief under your accounts. To avoid this, you can check your account details online daily, if possible.
These are just four of the most common low-tech methods used by identity thieves. There are other ways for identities to be stolen. Knowing them can be a great advantage in the fight against this crime.
